Review of Leeds Digital Job Fair 3.0
It’s Tuesday morning and I am sure like most you are suffering the consequences of an alcohol infused bank holiday weekend. But let us not forget the events of last Friday….Leeds Digital Job Fair at First Direct Arena! In this blog, we are going to give you a review of what the day entailed.
It was a fun filled informative day with a plentiful amounts of Tech Talks, exhibitors and a ‘Day in the Life of’ speeches, it was a fantastic event, with nearly 2000 people signed up to attend throughout the day, which was part of the Leeds Digital Festival & the International Festival.
There was a buzz that echoed throughout the day, as students and the public filled the arena in anticipation, enjoying going around all the stands asking questions about possible future careers. This was an experience we know the exhibitors also loved, they were extremely encouraged by the interest showed in their company and impressed by people’s research; they handed out lots of name cards and we are sure they are looking forward to hearing back from everyone they engaged with.
The highlight was defiantly the Google talks from the Digital Garage; Google Trainer, Becky Boyd gave an engaging talk about ‘how to get a job in tech’. She reiterated the importance of being proactive, starting your own blog, creating your own website and becoming familiar with analytics tools, to show employers that you have skills and knowledge that other candidates do not have.
The ‘A Day in the Life of Talks’ were intimate and engaging. Delegates were encouraged to ask questions and it ended up being almost a Q&A which worked out fantastically for all those interested by the different path ways into tech; it was great to see such a diverse set of questions, age ranges and interests as this meant for some really unique talks.
In summary this was a vital, must attend event for anyone interested in all things digital and tech. There were some incredible brand names at the event such as: Barclays, Jet2, Sky Betting and Gaming to name a few. Businesses turned up with an extremely positive attitude ready to hear from possible future employees and to tell everyone about their incredible companies. This was defiantly one networking event not to miss.
