We have an exciting opportunity for a UNIX Engineer to join our Unix Support team. As a Unix Systems Admin your role will be to assist in the 24×7 support of Sky’s Unix Platform, with a primary focus of the role being the ongoing support and maintenance of our systems. The successful candidate will performing day-to-day support as part of extend day shift pattern (Monday – Friday) based in Leeds.

Your key responsibilities:
•Work with our vendors to resolve Incidents (Hardware and Linux), to resolve any issues on the platform.
•Provide internal customers with support for requests that need the support of an Unix Engineer
•Maintenance, Patching and Configuration of all UNIX environments.
•To work as part of a team responsible for the support and delivery of improvements across a large UNIX estate (Solaris, HP-UX, Centos and RedHat Linux).
•Prior history of working in a busy production support environment.
•Experience with raising and managing support cases with vendors
•Basic knowledge of both RedHat Enterprise Linux.
•Experience of Patching and Operating System Upgrade
•Basic knowledge of Unix Shell Scripting (bash/ksh/perl)
•Core and associated networking experience: TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP and SSH
•Awareness/ Understanding of SSL Certificate Installations/Changes
•Experience of working in an environment using Change Management practices.
•Good communication & relationship management skills
